The Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise (KumAPP) of the Russian Helicopters Holding Company delivered two Ka-226T ship-based helicopters to the customer. The machines have successfully completed the whole set of acceptance tests and will soon replenish the state aviation fleet, the company's press service reports.
This delivery has become the second this year — in March, a solemn ceremony of transferring the first two Ka-226T ship-based helicopters to the state customer was held at KumAPP.
According to the Russian Helicopters Holding Company, due to its small dimensions, the helicopter is capable of being deployed on ships and low tonnage vessels. The ship-based helicopter Ka-226T can be used to solve search and rescue and transportation tasks day and night in different meteorological conditions.
The light multi-purpose helicopter Ka-226T has a maximum take-off weight of 3.6 tons, capable of carrying up to 1 ton of load.
The main distinguishing feature of this design, according to the manufacturers, is its modularity. A transport cabin, capable to transport up to six people, or modules equipped with special equipment can be easily installed on the helicopter.
