UFA, 4 December 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/.
The outgoing year of 2017 in Russia can become the warmest in the history of observations, TASS reported citing the director of the Meteorological Center of the Russian Federation, Roman Vilfand.
"The specialists of the Meteorological Center carried out calculations and found out that for the 11 months of 2017 — from January to November inclusive, the average temperature in Russia was the highest for the entire observation period," said Vilfand.
The most noticeable deviation from the norm was in the Asian territory of the country, and the highest values were recorded in the northern regions of this part of Russia. According to the chief weather forecaster, the temperature there differed from the norm by 2.5-3 degrees, and these were incredibly high figures. In the European territory, the temperature was above the norm by about one degree.
Given that throughout Russia, especially in its Asian part, the temperature will be above the norm in December, it is expected that the outgoing year 2017 will be the warmest in history.
As the meteorologist notes, these figures are consistent with the calculations of global warming, which is most pronounced in temperate and high latitudes.
"Our country is located just in these latitudes. According to the forecasts of specialists, with averaging over the entire surface of the globe, this year is projected to be in the third place in terms of warm temperatures, and in Russia – it will be the warmest one", Roman Vilfand added.
