Vladimir Putin met with Syrian President Bashar Assad

Vladimir Putin in Sochi met with Syrian President Bashar Assad, who arrived in Russia on a working visit, the Kremlin's press service reported. The Russian leader congratulated Assad on the successful fight against terrorism. According to him, the Syrian people despite a very difficult ordeal are gradually moving towards the final and inevitable defeat of the terrorists.
Bashar Assad noted that thanks to Russia Syria was saved as a state; many residents of the Arab Republic were able to return to their homes. In two years, the successes achieved due to the assistance of the military security services and government troops became evident. During the meeting, Putin introduced the Syrian colleague to the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. "Much has been done to stabilize the situation in Syria. I hope that in the very near future we will mark a decisive end to the fight against terrorism in Syria, although it is clear that there will still be storm centres, they will still emerge", the Russian President said.
