The CEC of Russia proposed re-electing the current head of the Central Election Commission of Bashkortostan Khaidar Valeev for a new term. The decision on this was taken today at a meeting of election organizers in Moscow. This decision was supported by 12 members of the CEC of Russia, one abstained. The Central Election Commission of Bashkiria will meet in a new composition for the first meeting on June 27, at the end of the term of office of the previous commission. This meeting will determine the head of the agency for the next five years.
In Bashkortostan, a new structure of the Central Election Commission was formed. The Head of the Republic appointed six members of the Central Election Commission by his decree. The deputies of the State Assembly of Bashkortostan also identified six members of the Central Election Commission of the republic with a casting vote.
The new composition was elected in connection with the expiration of the term of office of the Central Election Commission on June 26, 2017. In accordance with the federal and regional election legislation, the CEC of the new composition will include 12 members with a casting vote.
Half of the members of the republican Election Commission are appointed by the State Assembly, the other half by the Head of Bashkortostan. At the same time, both the State Assembly and the Head of the Republic must appoint at least one member of the Election Commission on the basis of the proposals received from the CEC of Russia.
The Central Election Commission of Russia earlier recommended the Head of the Republic appointing a new member of the regional commission — the current Chairman — Khaidar Valeev and the State Assembly — Marina Dolmatova, the secretary of the acting commission.
