More than 20 liters of breast milk have been collected in Bashkiria since beginning of specially created donor bank operation

The first in Bashkortostan and the second breast milk bank in Russia, opened not so long ago at the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital, collected more than 25 liters of breast milk. 40 nursing mothers were donors. These data were announced during a visit to the medical institution of the Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Bashkortostan Elza Syrtlanova.
This social project is aimed at helping newborns treated and rehabilitated in the department for preterm infants of the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital. The donors of breast milk undergo a serious selection. Those who meet all the necessary criteria are examined for RW, HIV and hepatitis markers, after which it becomes possible to transfer milk to the bank. Donor milk is obligatory pasteurized according to a special method, then it is sorted in aseptic conditions into sterile containers and only then it is frozen.
On the same day, the Deputy Minister visited a trauma centre of the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital, which since February of this year began to receive children from several districts of the city of Ufa around the clock. The trauma centre provides diagnostic and therapeutic assistance to patients with injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. If necessary, there is an opportunity to consult with other hospital specialists, which significantly improves the care quality for children. Anti-rabies and tetanus preventive treatment is also carried out. The trauma centre has a separate entrance, equipped with ramps, a patient waiting room, emergency and repeated reception rooms, plaster and dressing rooms, equipped with a digital X-ray machine. The capacity is more than 60 patients per day.
