Russian oncologists discuss draft of National Cancer Control Strategy in Ufa

The chief visiting oncologist of the Ministry of Health of the country, the director of the N.N. Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Centre, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Mikhail Davydov named the 9th Congress of Russian Oncologists opened today in Ufa a landmark event.
"An attempt will be made here to create a National Strategy for the Cancer Service Development of the Russian Federation. Today we are experiencing great difficulties in the part that the regional budgets are determined by regions independently, therefore, our subjects differ in terms of level, quality and volume of medical care, which inevitably affects the final results", Davydov said. "Currently, the Government of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Health are paying great attention to the target indicators that we need to get to fulfill the main task — reducing mortality. This is a super task. It is planned that in autumn the draft document will be submitted to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. The strategy will be implemented in several stages".
According to Mikhail Davydov, it is important to create an anticancer service capable to analyze statistics, monitor the register and work of institutions, conduct analysis, improve educational standards for training personnel, and modernize logistics.
Speaking about the oncological service of Bashkortostan, the director of the N.N. Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Centre noted that our republic had strengths in this direction regarding diagnostics and treatment.
The National Strategy for the Development of the Cancer Service of the Russian Federation will determine the development of service in the country until 2030.
